Academics Overview
The All Saints curriculum follows the Graded Course of Study for each subject as provided by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. All Saints students perform well above average on standardized testing, and area high schools report a large percentage of All Saints graduates on their honor rolls. Typically, several All Saints eighth grade students will achieve Billiart Honors at Mount Notre Dame High School and the Moeller High School Award of Distinction, based on their perfomance on the high schools' entrance exams.
All Saints School uses an "integrated curriculum", meaning that no skill is taught in isolation. Rather, the skill is incorporated throughout the curriculum as much as possible, providing constant reinforcement and a wider variety of learning experiences.
Classrooms
Grades K - 5 are self-contained, and each classroom teacher is responsible for the core curriculum. Beginning in Grade 3, certain subjects, such as science/health and social studies, are departmentalized. Grades 6 - 8 are departmentalized for nearly all subjects. Generally, the homeroon teacher is the religion teacher in each grade. Grades K - 5 are supported by part-time aides.
Curriculum Assessment
The school administrators and teachers assess the effectiveness of the curriculum and set curriculum goals, using the guidelines from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Standardized testing results also aid in reviewing and updating the current curriculum.
Grades K - 3
Religion, language arts, and mathematics are stressed in the primary grades. A strong phonics base is used. Students at this level are essentially learning to read.
