Each of us is called by God to live a life of holiness, yet we are also each called to live that out in a particularly focused way through our "vocation". Over the centuries, the Church has recognized a series of vocations that people enter into which are often referred to as a "state of life".
For some, that vocation is to marriage and the uniting of ones self to a particular person and the raising of a family. For others, they feel a call to live a single life while also being a part of a community focused on a particular charism - this is typically referred to as the Consecrated/Religious life.
For others however, they are called to discern more closely the call to live out their lives in a manner of sacrifice most closely united to Jesus Christ as one of his Priests, or to be of service and preach His message as a Permanent Deacon.
If you would like to learn more, or discuss your own discernment with someone, we encourage you to contact the parish to set up a meeting for "Spiritual Direction" with one of our clergy, or to contact the Archdiocesan Vocation's Office to inquire about Priesthood, Permanent Diaconate, or Consecrated Single Life.
